Chef Andreas Anastassakis
was only 14 years old when he started in the food service industry. After getting his start at a hot dog stand at a flea market in Toronto, Canada, this chef is now calling the shots in the kitchen at The Bright Star Catering Company. Over the past eight years, Andreas has had the opportunity to work side by side with well know and seasoned Southern Cuisine chefs from Alabama and New Orleans. His hope is to continue the Bright Star’s 111-year old legacy of customer satisfaction by delivering the best of the best food to the Birmingham and surrounding areas.

After earning degrees in biology and chemistry, Chef Michael Glenn
turned to one memory that had been in his mind throughout his studies; there was magic in food. With that he turned his inspiration into a craft and earned a Chef’s Certification from the Jefferson State Community College. He learned to mix classic French techniques with Southern styles of cooking. He is passionate about preserving and expanding the traditions of Southern culinary culture. It’s a passion you can taste as well view in all of its sensory richness.

Bare Naked Noodles
was born after financial advisor by day, Linda Croley, decided to jump into the food business. While providing clients with her national Italian- style pasta through Pappardelle’s Pasta, she decided that she wanted to offer them more. With the help of her loyal customers; she was able to create a company based on the simple idea of using family recipes, farm fresh local ingredients and a love for food. They now offer seasonal varieties of ravioli, pasta, lasagna, and a delicious tomato and basil sauce.

With almost a decade of experience in the hospitality and event industry, Chef Pleshette Bevelle
decided it was time to change directions and pursue her passion for cooking. Whilst attending The Culinary Institute of Virginia College she learned how to combine her creativity in design and flair for flavors. This not only allowed her to showcase her catering talents at local charity and corporate events, but also to celebrities! Along with creating and catering breathtaking events of all shapes and sizes, Chef Pleshette also offers personal chef services and private cooking classes.

From the age of 9, JaWanda Jackson
has been cooking for everyone around her. She started off by simply making her mother breakfast in bed which then led to her preparing lunch meals for the neighborhood children that she taught Bible Class to on her front porch which has now brought her to open and run a family owned bakery that relies strongly on their faith for success. She enjoys cooking southern style foods like fried chicken, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and crusty cream cheese pound cake. But one of her favorite things to make and eat is her Sweet Potato Pie. Her bakery, JaWanda’s Sweet Potato Pies now serves 14 different flavors as well as other desserts. When you walk through the doors you get that aroma, taste, and hospitality like being in your grandma’s kitchen.

Coming from a family full of home cooks and restaurant owners, it’s no surprise that Chef Raquel Ervin
has a strong passion for cooking. As soon as she could stand on a chair to reach the stove, she was in the kitchen cooking. Her mother taught her that to guarantee good eating, one needs to learn good cooking. During her teenage years, she worked at her sister’s home-style cooking restaurants where she gained a great amount of experience. Then, in 2014 she decided it was time to open up her own catering business, Panoptic Catering. With her refined palate, she is the ultimate quality control specialist with many years of experience. You’re always sure to receive the highest quality of food service.
