Author of the Mountain Brook Series, Katherine Clark
Former college professor Katherine Clark knew back in first grade that she wanted to be a writer. After studying the lives of Onnie Lee Logan, the black granny midwife, and Eugene Walter, the Capote-esque bon vivant, she released her first two publications: Motherwit: An Alabama Midwife’s Story
and Milking the Moon: A Southerner’s Story of Life on this Planet.
Her hope was to create a similar oral biography with Martin Hames, but upon learning of his passing she knew it was time to write a novel. Her first novel The Headmaster’s Darlings
is a tribute to her former mentor and shows the importance of great teachers. While writing this novel, she realized that one book was simply not going to allow the reader to understand the true importance of how these special teachers in your life really can lead a community to grow and change for the better. With that, she developed the Mountain Brook Series. To learn more about her novels and inspirations, head over to the Spotlight Stage on Saturday, October 7th at 3:30pm
