Executive Chef Richard Showers of Billy’s Sports Grill
has been in a restaurant ever since he was 17 years old. He began his career at Mauby’s in Mountain Brook. With his flare for food and quick ability to learn he worked his way thru every kitchen position they had. In 1995 Showers was promoted to kitchen manager. With his passion for culinary arts and ability to lead a team by motivation, creativity, and guidance Showers was soon promoted to be Executive Chef for Mauby’s in 1998. When Mauby’s closed in 2003, Showers took to his soulful roots and the kitchen at Main Street Café in Gardendale feeding large crowds good quality home-style meals. When the business changed hands, Showers caught the eye of Billy’s Sports Grill’s VP. He saw Shower’s true talents and knew he wanted him to lead his team. In 2005 Richard came to Billy’s Sports Grill
in Mountain Brook’s English Village as the kitchen manager. He has since been promoted to Executive Chef and taken Billy’s to the next level as a high-end sports bar. He has re-vamped the menu and added new items that are all made fresh in house. His fine dining talents mixed with his experience serving home-style food has added to what Billy’s offers today. Once only a neighborhood bar with sandwiches, Billy’s now offers appetizers, salads, entrees, & desserts. Showers has lead Billy’s in the opening of two additional locations (Liberty Park and Northport), won the title of Birmingham’s Best Hot Wings numerous years in a row, & catered many larger functions like the Billy’s Club at the Indy GP of Alabama, weddings, rehearsal dinners, private parties, game day tailgates and more.

is family owned and operated by Dan Koch
and his 85 year old Mom Pat
who is also known as “The General.” In 2014 the Koch family purchased Alabama’s biggest water and amusement park plus 89 surrounding acres and they have brought it back to life. They have been involved in the amusement park industry for their entire lives and their involvement in the operations is legendary in the amusement park industry. Koch family are hands-on owners who have intimate knowledge of the inner workings of every facet of the park, ranging from crowd flows to customer service at the front gate. The Kochs are at the park daily from open to close greeting customers, cleaning, and you may even see them in the restaurants making funnel cakes. Which is exactly what you can find them doing on the Cooking Stage Saturday at 12:30!
